Mexico gets first ‘Bond girl’ in ‘Spectre’

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Actress Stephanie Sigman will become the first Mexican “Bond girl” when she appears in 007’s upcoming movie Spectre.

The official 007 website broke the news.

She’ll be playing a character named Estrella opposite Daniel Craig as Bond in the franchise’s 24th movie.

Sigman starred in the award-winning 2011 Mexican film Miss Bala, about a beauty pageant contestant involved with drug traffickers.

Nicaraguan-American actress Barbara Carrera appeared as Fatima Blush in 1984’s Never Say Never Again.

Spectre will be released Nov. 6.
