U2 plays tiny LA club

U2 played one of their smallest shows in years with a gig in West Hollywood at The Roxy on Thursday night (May 28, 2015).

The show was just one day after the death of U2 tour manager Dennis Sheenan who had worked with the band for 33 years. Bono spoke of Sheenan telling the crowd of his dignity. He also dedicated ‘Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of’ to the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence.

U2 opened and closed the first set of the show with track from their debut album ‘Boy’ (1980), ‘The Ocean’ and ‘Out of Control’. ‘The Ocean’ was played for the first time since 2005 but the rarest song for the night was ’11 O’Clock Tick Tock’, played for the first time since 2001.

Familiar faces in the audience included Danny DeVito, Chris Martin, Tom Morello, Courtney Love, Sean Penn, Kevin Smith and Jack Nicholson (who was also hanging out a few days early at the Stones LA club gig).
