The age of Ultron is upon us — or, at least, it’s a couple of months away but the latest trailer for Marvel’s second Avengers movie makes it look as it the future is very bleak for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Ahead of the trailer’s broadcast premiere during the first episode of ABC’s American Crime drama Thursday evening, Marvel released the trailer online Wednesday morning following a plea to get fans to use the hashtag #AvengersAssemble on Twitter to “unlock” the release.
The movie, written and directed by Joss Whedon, re-teams Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner to face off against the eponymous robot bad guy, played by James Spader. New characters debuting in the movie will include the Vision (Paul Bettany), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), with Samuel Jackson returning as super spy major doom Nick Fury.
Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released May 1.
