Dave Grohl and Co. will play the Forum this weekend, with a portion of ticket proceeds benefiting three music charities
The Foo Fighters will set up shop at the Forum in Los Angeles this Saturday, January 10th, for their first concert of 2015 and last in the States before embarking on their Sonic Highways world tour. Billed as “An Evening With Foo Fighters in the Round,” a portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit three music-related charities, the Rock School Scholarship Fund, MusiCares and Sweet Relief.
Tickets go on sale tonight at 7 p.m. PST and will cost $50, with $10 from each ticket getting distributed among the charities. Fans will be able to purchase up to four general admission floor tickets, and up to eight for reserved seating. There will be no opening act.
The Foo Fighters will hit the road a few days later, starting their Sonic Highways tour on January 15th in Santiago, Chile. They’ll then trek through South America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe before returning to North America this summer.
The Foo’s will kick off their North American leg with a special July 4th blowout at RFK Stadium that will double as 20th anniversary celebration. To mark the occasion, the the band is promising fans a motorcycle rally, fireworks, barbecue and a number of special guests: Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr., Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, LL Cool J with DJ Z-Trip, Trouble Funk and Trombone Shorty.
Each guest also appeared in the Foos’ HBO docuseries, Sonic Highways, which examined the music scenes of the eight different cities where the band recorded their eighth album. “One of the things I learned doing all these interviews is that all the musicians [on the show] are music nerds,” frontman Dave Grohl told Rolling Stone after the show ended. “It begins with this spark of inspiration that snowballs into a passion and life direction. Everyone is connected by that same feeling. There aren’t too many people that decided, ‘Well, I don’t think I’m going to become an accountant; I think I’ll be a rock musician.’ It’s something that burns inside of them.”
