Hailee Steinfeld: ‘There’s always time for dating!’

Hailee Steinfeld isn’t worried about finding love right now.

The 19-year-old star has found success in both acting and singing. But one thing she’s not concerning herself with is finding a boyfriend, insisting her career is what takes priority at this point in her life.

“I mean, there’s always time for dating,” Hailee told Harper’s Bazaar magazine. “I do feel that right now though – and I hate saying this – my top priority is what I’m working on. It’s that and family, and then everything else.”

As well as focusing on her career, Hailee knows how important it is to be comfortable with herself before looking for love. That’s the topic she tackled in her debut single Love Myself, and one she continues to discover.

“It’s about how much power there is in self-love and being able to provide for yourself,” she says of her first single. “I don’t think loving yourself is easy, but I’m realising the importance of it more and more.”

Hailee first made a name for herself when she was just 14 in the movie True Grit, for which she earned an Oscar nomination. However, she admits she was pretty oblivious to the acting world when she was cast in the film.

“(I wasn’t) aware of anything, other than the fact that I was having fun, in a serious way,” she shared. “I had no idea that asking 500 questions on set every day was too much.”

Hailee’s next role will see her star in The Edge of Seventeen – a coming of age movie which has already been tipped for success.

Audiences at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday (12Apr16) were given a sneak peek of the film, due out in September (16), with the cast also involved in a panel discussion.

“I remember reading the script and thinking I have never read something so honest and so truthful,” the brunette beauty said. “I identified with so many moments in this story.”
