Last year, Universal Music scored a No.1 Hit with ‘Move On Up’, introducing Northern Soul music to a new generation with the help of 18-year-old Northern Soul YouTube star Levanna McLean.100k sales and one gold disc later, it’s time for Volume 2…
‘Move On Up Volume 2’ is released 18th March. This follow-up album is packed full of Northern Soul classics for the wider audience plus includes some hard-to-find gems from the Northern Soul scene which the fans are going to love:
Sam Ward ‘Sister Lee’ for example, is a highly sought after Detroit single currently selling for $1000 on eBay.
Other hard to find tracks include Tommy Neal’s Going To A Happening, Stanley Mitchell’s Get It Baby alongside whoppers including The Luther Ingram Orchestra’s 148bpm ‘Exus Trek’ which fans will recognise having been heavily featured in the 2014 film ‘Northern Soul’.
Other key tracks include Judy Street ‘What’ (Wigan Casino floorfiller covered by Soft Cell); Patti & The Emblems ‘I’m Gonna Love You A Long Time’ (Monster track with a huge intro) and Bobby Womack ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ (Euphoric, infectious 70s track).
Once again, Levanna has helped curate this album and bring a fresh vibe to a classic scene. The TV advertised album will also be promoted to tens of thousands of Northern Soul fans on Lev’s YouTube channel as part of a wider digital and social media marketing campaign.
